Biography
Orlando Kerr is a dedicated public servant, educator, and community leader whose life\'s work reflects service, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the people of Tobago. A proud family man, he has served the Tobago House of Assembly with distinction, contributing meaningfully to national development and grassroots progress.
His service to the THA includes roles as Assistant Secretary in the Division of Education, Research and Technology, and later in the Division of Settlements, Public Utilities, and Rural Development. In these capacities, Orlando\'s leadership impacted classrooms, communities, and critical infrastructure across the island, guided by a practical, people-centred approach to governance.
Educated at Scarborough Secondary School and Signal Hill Secondary School, Orlando went on to receive professional training at the Valsayn Teachers\' College, laying the foundation for a career in education built on passion and purpose. A respected teacher and strong union advocate, he served two terms as a Tobago Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers\' Association (TTUTA), representing educators locally and across the Caribbean with clarity, conviction, and resolve.
Within the THA, Orlando championed innovation, effective policy, and hands-on solutions. He is particularly noted for his leadership of the Bus Shed Initiative, a transformative programme that rebuilt and renovated essential public transport facilities across Tobago, improving safety, functionality, and accessibility for residents.
Beyond public office, Orlando is deeply rooted in community life. He is actively involved in sport, culture, charity, and leadership roles spanning All Fours, cricket, and football. His strong work ethic, steady leadership style, and genuine care for people have earned him respect across generations and communities.
