Biography
Darren Hestor Henry is a devoted family man, seasoned public servant, and community leader whose life reflects service, integrity, and principled leadership. A husband of 24 years and a committed father of four, he brings the same dedication to public life that has defined his family and professional journey.
With over 26 years of distinguished service in the Tobago House of Assembly, Darren has progressed from Forester I to Acting Assistant Conservator of Forests and Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Forestry. His career stands as a model of steady advancement, excellence, and deep institutional knowledge-anchored in a commitment to protecting Tobago's natural heritage while supporting sustainable development.
Academically accomplished, Darren holds a Diploma in Forestry, a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Environmental Land Management, and an international diploma in Botanical Garden Management from the world-renowned Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. His training and experience position him as a respected authority in environmental stewardship and land management.
A man of faith, Darren is guided by strong Christian values that shape how he leads, serves, and uplifts others. He is deeply rooted in the Bethel community-active in village life, church, and sport, including football with Old Boys and Uprising. His involvement also spans organisations such as the Field Naturalists and Trinbago Backpackers, reflecting a lifelong love of nature, culture, and community engagement. For more than two decades, Bethel has known him as grounded, approachable, and results-driven.
A passionate mentor and advocate for youth, Darren empowers young people through agriculture and life-skills training at the Bethel Empowerment Centre, living his belief that sustainable community development begins with the next generation. From eco-tours to environmental education, he has touched countless lives with knowledge, patience, and purpose.
